In the afternoon session of the conference, Academician Lin Bangyu delivered a speech titled "Semiconductor Industry Technology Development and Prospects for Domestic Substitution" in Sub-forum I, providing an in-depth analysis of the current state and technologies of China's semiconductor industry.

Academician Lin began by comparing China's semiconductor industry with its international counterparts, noting that the upstream equipment market remains dominated by high-end European and Japanese manufacturers, with domestic substitution still at a relatively low level. Although Mainland China holds a certain market share in 28nm process technology and ranks third globally in wafer foundry capacity, a significant gap remains compared with international advanced standards. He identified the primary drivers of China's semiconductor industry as the growing demand for chips and the push for domestic substitution driven by international export restrictions. However, the industry continues to face technological gaps and product homogenization, with a lag of 7 to 10 years behind global leaders in precision and yield.

When envisioning the development of semiconductor technology in the post-Moore era, Academician Lin highlighted three key areas: the continuation of Moore's Law, the direction of More than Moore, and the importance of novel devices. He particularly emphasized the critical role of wafer thinning technology in 2.5D and 3D packaging, and provided a detailed overview of ultra-thin wafer packaging technologies. He also presented the R&D achievements of Tachikawa Semiconductor, the company he founded, in high-end equipment including probe stations, IWC cleaning systems, and integrated ultra-thin wafer grinding and polishing thinning systems.

In conclusion, Academician Lin spoke highly of the prospects for China's semiconductor industry, expressing confidence that through accelerated technological innovation and domestic substitution, the industry can gradually narrow the gap with international advanced levels and secure a more prominent position in the global market in the years ahead.
